Filming By Degrees
2008 Aspera Conference
Monday, July 14, RMIT University
Do the film and media makers of the future need a university education?
As part of the 2008 ASPERA Conference, the Australian Screen Production Education and Research Association presents a free public event exploring the relationship of universities that teach film, television & video to the screen production industries their students wish to enter.
Two sessions involving panels of industry figures and university academics discussing what a university education has to offer a would-be filmmaker or screen practitioner and what the higher education sector can do to effectively support the screen industries.
- Should universities just be skills and labour providers to the industry?
- What is the potential of university research to support the development of a healthy and successful screen industry?
- Can this research include production?
- What does the industry want from graduates?
