Introducing the ASPERA Screen Production Teaching Award
Launched in 2025 the ASPERA Screen Production Teaching Award celebrates excellence and innovation. Each year a $1,000 cash prize will be awarded to the top individual or team.
Guidelines
We are seeking applications from ASPERA members who are actively involved in teaching screen production, and have delivered excellence and or innovation. The written application must address the teaching philosophy / pedagogy, impact and success. The below application requirements outline the required and optional components.
Application Requirements

Written submission – 1000 words (required)

Teaching philosophy / pedagogy

Impact – analysis, discussion, case studies, etc.

Measures of success – outcomes, evidence, statistics, etc.

References, testimonials, survey results - max. 3 pages

Visuals, graphics, images, photos – max. 10 items

Video – max. 3 minutes

CV – max. 2 pages (required)
Assessment
The award assessment criteria is closely aligned with the Australian Awards for University Teaching:

Positively impacted on student learning, student engagement or the overall student experience
-
Shown creativity, imagination and/or innovation
-
Drawn on the scholarly literature on teaching and learning to inform the development of initiatives, programs and/or practice

The ASPERA Screen Production Teaching Award is positioned as a potential stepping stone to a national teaching award.
Members of the ASPERA Executive and Learning and Teaching Committee will evaluate submissions and award the prize.
Eligibility

All applicants must be employees of an ASPERA member institution

Full time, part time, contract and causal employees, at any academic level, may apply

Applicants may be an individual or a group
-
The successful applicant or group must be willing to the present their teaching accomplishments at an ASPERA Online Symposium the following year (15-minute online presentation + Q&A)

Submissions Open 1st July 2025
Submissions Close 3rd November 2025
Winner Announced 28th November 2025 (at the ASPERA Conference)
Online symposium 2026 (date TBC)
